Contact Information for Ms. Johnson: (Social Studies) Email: [email protected] Website: https://spnmsjohnson.weebly.com www.st.philip-neri.org Classroom Expectations: The student covenant sets the tone for class expectations. Students reviewed and discussed the covenant the first week of school. I will contact you via phone or email regarding concerns or reinforcement of students expectations on an as needed basis. Student Covenant: Today I will be respectful. I will be responsible. I will be safe. I will be prepared. I will accept nothing less then my personal best.
Thursday Communication: This is the main line of communication from the school. Envelopes will be sent home every Thursday. Most of the information will be in the youngest or only envelope. Please sign and return the envelope on Friday morning. It is the students responsibility to check the envelope for its contents and bring it to me in the morning. School Lunches: Information regarding school lunches has already been sent home. Please contact the office for additional questions or details. A menu will be sent home at the end of the month for the following month. Students are expected to communicate with me in the morning if they will be buying a lunch, what choice they have selected. They will also turn in any money that should be paid at this time. Students have pin numbers (they will eventually memorize) to use that will keep track of their purchases.
Homework: Homework will be assigned on an as needed basis. Please click on the homework page to view assigned work.
Reading: We will begin the year with a novel study. Students will be reading: FROM THE MIXED UP FILES OF MRS. BASIL E. FRANKWEILER which is about a sister and brother who run away and stay in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You can find more information about the book here. We have classroom copies, but if you would like your child to have their own copy, please send it in by September 30th.
Students should also bring a chapter book that interests them to school each day. They will be encouraged to read often. A good book, on their reading level, that they are excited to read is best. I will encourage the students to pick a book during Library Class (Thursdays) as well. For the first quarter of the school year, Mrs. Giordano and I will invite them to choose a Newberry book.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
